I’m a 8-year-old dachshund with a big heart and an old soul.

I’m not the kind of dog who rushes up to strangers wagging my tail like we’ve known each other forever. I take a little time to trust people. The world feels safer to me when things are calm and predictable. But if you give me a few days, some patience, and a soft voice, I’ll slowly start showing you who I really am.

Once I know I’m safe, I become very affectionate. I love being near my person and quietly keeping them company. I’m not noisy, demanding, or troublesome – honestly, I’m more of a “let’s sit together peacefully” kind of gentleman.

I get along well with other dogs and people, and I show no aggression at all. I recently lost my doggie companion, which has left a little sadness in my heart. I haven’t really made a new friend since then, but maybe that special someone could be you.

Loud homes and lots of shouting make me nervous, especially things like children’s parties with screaming and running around. I would be happiest in a calm, quiet home with an older person or someone who understands that gentle souls sometimes need a little extra time.

Oh – and I’m currently on a reduced-calorie diet. Apparently I’ve enjoyed snacks a little too enthusiastically over the years. No regrets.
